Best-selling Stoke-on-Trent author Mel Sherratt returns to the Festival to share more about her fantastic publishing success, her characters and writing about her home town. After achieving huge success self-publishing her work, Mel will be discussing Tick Tock, her brand new book and second with HarperCollins – one of the world’s biggest publishing houses

Set in and around Stoke-on-Trent, Tick Tock is the second in Mel’s gritty and gripping police procedural series featuring DS Grace Allendale. The book features familiar North Staffordshire locations and has received praise from fellow authors Ian Rankin and Martina Cole who calls the book ‘a terrific read’.

Mel Sherratt is the author of fourteen crime novels, all of which have become bestsellers. For the past four years, she has been named as one of her home town of Stoke-on-Trent’s top 100 influential people. She also works alongside the National Literary Trust as an ambassador on The Literary Project, to support their ongoing work in the city, aiming to raise literacy levels. She lives in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, with her husband and terrier, Dexter.
