Poetry For All

We’re huge poetry fans at the Festival in a Factory and this year we have more poets than ever before, sharing their work and lots of opportunities for you to share your love of poetry and discover new works to enjoy.

POET LAUREATE FOR STOKE – Friday 8th June 2pm: We’re delighted that Stoke-on-Trent’s first official poet laureate will be host their first event at the Festival.  The new laureate, appointed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Stoke-on-Trent Libraries, takes up the honorary post for an initial two-year tenure with a role to write poems to commission, read and perform  poetry, initiate poetry events and work with local poetry and community group to promote poetry across Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Poet Laureate Emily Rose Galvin will be a special guest and poet Matt Windle will also be part of the event which is hosted by John Prebble from The Poetry Exchange

Turn up to the takeaway in the Factory courtyard and supply the ingredients for a ‘home-cooked poem’.

The world’s first purpose built poetry emporium cooks up personalised, made to order poems, performed and wrapped up for you to takeaway.
